Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Unboxing

This is not unboxing post anyway since this is an overdue entry on my blog. Quite busy with work eh. Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, my 4month-old smartphone. The flagship of Sony in the Android-phone arena. At first im kinda angry with this phone because the battery life would not last for 24 hours of normal usage with no mp3's sound trip and movie. But since SE released the updated firmware version R2BA020, battery-life goes with 3 days of normal usage. Not bad for a smartphone if you ask me. Can't wait for the next update due Q4 of this year.

Package includes free pouch, phone, and headphone

Back of the phone

This is the old Firmware, new update is available now in Singapore and Australia thru SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service)

Bazooka Joe

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="170" caption="Bazooka Joe"]Bazooka Joe[/caption]

How i miss Bazooka Joe.

Programmer at technical nightmares pag nagkataon.  In a worst case scenario, baka mag-manual count pagdating sa barangay pero na-defeat ang purpose ng kaunaunahang Philippine election automation. Nagbayad pa naman limpak na salapi na kinuha sa ating mga buwis.

Im not against with automation, since nasa IT field ako. but with thorough planning at testing sana.

Novell Data Center Technical Specialist

After the free Novell Certified Linux Administrator certification, now Novell again gives free certification. Novell Data Center Technical Specialist. Everyone who received this cert is clueless what does this means.  Quick search on the Novell site does'nt give any result or info.

I'm not sure if i will add this cert on my CV.  Free cert without exam?  Bad idea i guess..

Manny Pacquiao vs Joshua Clottey rotating brownout schedule

Will there be a 2 to 3 hour rotating brownout during the much awaited fight of Manny Pacquiao vs Joshua Clottey?  Hopefully not. As per National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP), the Luzon power grid was set to "red alert" which means that it has no power reserves from Feb16-March11 only. So technically, there's no rotating brownout on March 14, the fight night of Pacquiao and Clottey at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

NGCP better make sure that we have the enough power reserves on March 14, or else, they will taste the power punch of the Filipino people.

Phishing attack on bloggers

Last week i received an email asking if I'm in posting their ads. To check out their ADS Unit, i must click a Google Picasa Web album url. Curious, I clicked on the URL from the email and it forwarded me on a Google Account authentication page.

Hmm smells fishy. Remember that my wife’s yahoo account was hacked after someone from her friend’s hacked YM asked her to check out the pictures on his flicker. In just a minute, her username and password was harvested by the hacker and we have to call Yahoo just to retrieve the credentials.

You wont notice that this is a bogus page.

http://picasaphotos21.t35.com/photoalbum.htm

hmmm, ok. Not your usual Google URL and looks like a subdomain of t35.com

Let’s check out www.t35.com

Capture3

Boom!!! t35.com is a free website service. So the hacker uses a free web service to host his fake Google Picasa page. The minute you entered your Google Account username and password it will be harvested.

How will you identify if the page is bogus or not? Here are some of the basic steps that you can use:

1. Google always use webpage SSL certificates. You will notice that the URL starts with https://…. instead of http://… on its page authentication.

2. Update your internet browsers. New browsers are intelligent enough if the SSL certificates is fake or not.

3. Always check the URL of the page. Most of the hackers uses free web service hosting to host their bogus site.

Internet security awareness will always save your butt and your hard earned ADS payments.

Tsunami to hit Philippines

Philvocs warned that a possible tsunami will hit the eastern part of Philippines generated by the massive earthquake on Chile. Hopefully the warning is not true and regard it as one of those hoax news.
