New place!!!

First week of december we transferred to our new place in Singapore. It is a 3-room HDB unit as opposed to our first place in SG which is in a condominium( i really miss that place). The unit is decent and clean. The owner seldom stayed so everything in the place is quite new.

Wish came true

Last weekend, we spend the whole day in Sentosa. We tried Sentosa's 4D max, Cineblast,Cable car, Songs of the sea and the Merlion Tower. There are two merlion here in singapore. The original is in Raffles and the bigger merlion is in Sentosa overlooking the whole city of Singapore.

I like Cineblast but the most memorable one is the Merlion Tower. In Merlion's head, i proposed to the one i love and i will love for the rest of my life, Rachel. Im kinda shy when i proposed :) and she was laughing the whole time. I got her golden "Yes, i will marry you!!!"

To my surprise also despite of our tight budget saving for our wedding this coming April. She gave me the one of the things that im craving for. My own Sony PSP!!!! It's her Christmast gift and birthday gift at the same time to me. We scored the PSP in Funzquare. Funzquare can be found in the back of Tangs in Orchard Singapore. There's a lot of  games stores here in Singapore but be warned, most of them are already blacklisted!!! Only 2-3 stores offers good to honest services and Funzquare is one of them. Try to explore Filipino's internet forums before purchasing anything in Singapore.

Bulahaw in The Arena Singapore

After months of waiting, got again the opportunity to grip on my stick and rock my self out loud. Bulahaw played 7 songs in the The Arena Singapore Clark Quay. At first i was so nervous as if it is like the first time to play in the stage, but when the guitar, bass and vocals riffs on, the blood rushes into my brain and played like there was no tomorrow. Rock on!!!!

My former classmate/bandmate Paolo called me yesterday and asked me if i want to form a band here in Singapore. At first i'm hesitant to say yes because of my work's abnormal schedule, but then again, the music that still in my blood wants to come out. Let's see if things fall into places.

Food safari Singapore

Last sunday we went to Suntec just to attend the Food Safari, a food and appliances and laptop exhibition. So what so exciting about this?? It is food!!! Food from different part of the world. From turkish, africans, chinese, etc. So i aim my sony ericsson k770i to take high quality pictures and later download to my laptop using a usb cable and a free software Myphoneexplorer. Also in the exhibit is a low price/discounted LCD TV. Im still contemplating on which is the best of both worlds??? LCD TV or plasma TV??? My housemate bought a LCD TV last month and a DVD player with a HDMI connector and has an SD slot. We test downloading our pictures from the SD card and look at the output on the LCD TV. So far im satisfied with the result. how about on the plasma?? now that's another story.

Balikbayan OFW

We will be in the Philippines this weekend. Already bought chocolates pasalubong in Mustafa which is located near Farrer Park MRT in Singapore. Also some bags and scarfs that i scored in India.

For OFWs planning for a vacation in our country, better get your OEC(Overseas Exit Clearance) in the Philippine Embassy. I spend SGD22.00 for a two multiple exit OEC. This is use for a tax exemption in Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Hacking Yahoo Mail account: How did he do it??

After yesterday hacking incident on my gf's yahoo mail account, we called and emailed yahoo customer service and answered all of the security question just to prove that she owns the yahoo id. Yahoo then emailed  us the new password and we were able to retrieve the account from the bastard.

So how the hacker did it???? It was just a simple page that collects username and password. But he is skilled on "social engineering". At first you will not notice anything because the flow of conversation is friendly.

The yahoo mail phishing webpage was so simple. Last night i debug the page by using fiddler2, a free web debugging tool. So after the victim entered the username and password and clicked the fake Sign On button, the account information will be then be saved in a clear text file that the hacker then can retrieve and used to logon unto the victim's account. After that he will change your password and 0wn your account.

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Debugging yahoo mail phishing page using Fiddler2

Saves username and password on clear text

So if you are a victim of such incident, call Yahoo Customer Service, email them and never forget all information that you used during the creation of your account, alternate email, pet's name, birthday, etc. War against cyber crime is true so always be on guard.

Yahoo Mail Account hacked

My gf yahoo mail account was hacked. A friend of her chatted thru yahoo messenger and asking for a load. At first you will not notice the scam because the chat was in Tagalog (native language in the Philippines). And after that the hacker asked her to check a URL for him.

http://ymphotos.my3gb.com/yahoo.html

Yahoo account scam

The page looks like a yahoo mail login page. She then mistakenly entered her username and password.. and boom, her account was hacked.

The hacker then used my gf's yahoo account and chat her friends in yahoo messenger asking again for a load. After a series of conversation on one of her friends. A former officemate in Manila called her and asked if she were in the Philippines and if she is online on YM. They were puzzled why would she then asked for a cellphone load. Rachel notified me to check her Yahoo  but no avail, the hacker already changed the password.

I tried to reset the password but she forgot her alternate email. We called yahoo's customer service but they are already closed for the day.

We spent the night changing all of our account's password and calling friends not to chat her YM ID just to avert further damage.

Steamboat Singapore

Steamboat is a mini personal pot with choices of chicken or tom yam as soup for the food. It reminds me of Japanese's "shabu-shabu".

Yesterday we had a night out with our housemates in  "Hook on Steamboat" at East Coast Singapore. It was really great!!! Unlimited food and ice cream for only $S17.00 per person. Highly recommended.

Cook egg using cell phones

Is it true that you can boil egg by using two cellphones???? I will never again put my cellphone inside my pants pocket.

In the experiment, researchers placed one egg in a porcelain cup (because it is easy to conduct heat), and put one cell phone on one side and another cell phone on the other. The researchers then called from one cell phone to another and kept the cell phones on after connecting.

During the first 15 minutes, nothing changed. After 25 minutes, however, the egg shell started to become hot and at 40 minutes, the surface of the egg became hard and bristled. Researchers found the protein in the egg had become solid although the egg yolk was still in liquid form. After 65 minutes, the whole egg was well cooked.

What is blogging?:?

My housemates asked me "what is blogging???" I told them blogging is writing everything you want... writing about life, recipes, cars, music, sexcapades etc. And it is true, there is money in blogging if you work for it. You must dedicate some of the time in link building, page optimization and most of all, the working on the blog's content. I also show them some successfull blogs and how they can build their blog network around it. Thru blogging, you gain friends and at the same time enemies if you allow it. Happy blogging to all.

GMA PinoyTv Sucks

GMA PinoyTV Sucks

We subscribe to GMA PinoyTV channel here in Singapore because we want to watch Dyesebel and other series like kimsamsoon. But what a surprise!!! the channel programming really sucks. Imagine 3 runs of Eat bulaga(2 and half hours) everyday, one week old episodes of Dyesebel, old school episodes of documentary programs like Reporter's notebook, jessica soho, etc. I want to give them my feedback but there's no such page in their website and even there's no email address. (there's one feedback page if you google for it, but i don't know if it is working). Their website's tv program schedule is not updated. Such a waste of money. So if you are planning to subscribe to this channel, think twice!!! Sad to say Abs-CBn's TFC is much better.

Adding RTL8111B/RTL8111C network driver to Solaris Jumpstart

My jumpstart client has a builtin RTL8111B/RTL8111C network card. When i boot up the client thru PXE booting it gives me an error "no driver was found for the interface used to boot jumpstart"

Download the updated SUNWrge package, this holds the driver for rge

http://www.aplis.cz/SUNWrge.tar.gz

My Jumpstart image is shared thru NFS in /installer directory
#cd /installer/boot

Create a temporary miniroot directory
#mkdir x86.miniroot-rge.unpacked

Unpack the existing miniroot to the temp miniroot directory
#/boot/solaris/bin/root_archive unpack ./x86.miniroot ./x86.miniroot-rge.unpacked

Remove the existing SUNWrge package
#pkgrm SUNWrge

Add the updated SUNWrge package
#cd /export/home/john
#gunzip SUNWrge.tar.gz
#tar xvf SUNWrge.tar
#pkgadd -d . SUNWrge

Check the new aliases
#grep rge /etc/name_to_major /etc/driver_aliases
/etc/driver_aliases:rge "pci10ec,8169"
/etc/driver_aliases:rge "pci10ec,8110"
/etc/driver_aliases:rge "pci10ec,8168"
/etc/driver_aliases:rge "pci10ec,8111"

Remove the existing rge driver in the jumpstart miniroot
#cd /installer/boot
#/usr/sbin/rem_drv -b ./x86.miniroot-rge.unpacked/ rge

Add the new driver
#/usr/sbin/add_drv -b ./x86.miniroot-rge.unpacked  -n -v -m '* 0600 root sys' -i '"pci10ec,8169" "pci10ec,8110" "pci10ec,8168" "pci10ec,8111"' rge

Reboot client to install driver.
Driver (rge) installed.

Backup original miniroot
#mv x86.miniroot x86.miniroot.orig

Compress the new Jumpstart miniroot
#/boot/solaris/bin/root_archive pack ./x86.miniroot ./x86.miniroot-rge.unpacked/

Music is not allowed here??

yesterday we were warned by one of the trainors that listening to music while in training is not allowed eventhough we are using our headphones. I mean, music helps me to refocus on what im doing with my lab simulations instead of listening to other trainees discussion speaking on their native language in which i could not understand.

Music for the people

there will be two bands that i will meet in singapore. the first is the band of my college classmate allan. Their drummer left for another band and they are looking for someone to fillin the part. Paolo, my high school/college bandmate during the 90's rock era buzzed me and he is planning to form a group that will play regularly in The Arena, a regular joint for Filipinos in Singapore.

It turns out that i can still pursue my music career(hopefully) coz im not done yet :)

St. Paul College Pasig (SPCP) replaces its open source OS installed computers to Microsoft Vista and Office 2007. This indeed a very sad day for the Free Software Advocacy movement of the Philippines. Students and faculty complains that they use Microsoft in their home (hopefully it is legal :) ) which very much different to the open source softwares installed on their labs.

Penoi in Pune India

We are already here in Pune india for our training in Solaris. We took a 5-hour flight from Singapore to Mumbai.. and another 3-hour-lots-of-truck-on-the-road drive from Mumbai to Pune. Pune is very much like Manila. The main mode of trasportation here is motorcycle...A motorcycle cost more about 25,000 indian rupee roughly Php26,000.

Pune is entering its rainy season good thing i brought my umbrella. Im still adjusting to Indian food. :( how i miss San Antonio's lomi back in the Philippines.

Guitar Rhapsody

Penoi @ the Orchard

I filed my Overseas Workers Welfare Administration(OWWA) and my SSS at the Philippine Embassy here in Singapore.

Awww, napagkamanlan pa akong ibang lahi... siguro akala nila eh European????? american??? or indian ako... hehehe...

Got this free Solaris ebook for newbie and it has the information that i need for my initial study on Solaris.  Must obtain my certification on Solaris in two months time. :(  For my simulation labs, i will try to install virtualbox tonight.

Initial days in Singapore

Im here now in Singapore. Kinda culture shocked because of the mixed races and the strict discipline of the people. I will be leaving to India by next week and will be there for our company-provided training in two months.  Aw, i already miss  Philippines and Rachel. : (

Journey Revelation was "Out of Stock" on Walmart's online order, a day before the release of the much awaited comeback album of Journey, . It only proves that the Revelation album is going to be a big hit on the market.

Though its sad to say that it is also a victim of piracy offered free through P2P programs and other mp3 downloadable sites. Please support Journey!!! go buy the original!!!
